**803.1 General.** Los materiales de acabado para paredes y techos interiores deberán… ¶
803.1.1 Materiales de acabado para paredes y techos interiores probados conforme a NFPA 286. Los materiales de acabado para paredes y techos interiores deberán clasificarse conforme a NFPA 286 y cumplir con la Sección 803.1.1.1. Los materiales que cumplan con la Sección 803.1.1.1 se considerarán también conformes con los requisitos de la Clase A.
803.1.1.1 Criterios de aceptación para NFPA 286. El acabado interior deberá cumplir con lo siguiente:
- Durante la exposición de 40 kW, las llamas no deberán propagarse al techo.
- La llama no deberá propagarse hasta la extremidad exterior de la muestra en ninguna pared o techo.
- No deberá ocurrir flashover, según se define en NFPA 286.
- La tasa máxima de liberación de calor durante toda la prueba no deberá exceder los 800 kW.
- El humo total liberado durante toda la prueba no deberá exceder los 1,000 m².
803.1.2 Materiales de acabado para paredes y techos interiores probados conforme a ASTM E84 o UL 723. Los materiales de acabado para paredes y techos interiores deberán clasificarse conforme a ASTM E84 o UL 723. Dichos materiales de acabado interior se agruparán en las siguientes clases conforme a sus índices de propagación de llama y desarrollo de humo.
Clase A = Índice de propagación de llama 0–25; índice de desarrollo de humo 0–450.
Clase B = Índice de propagación de llama 26–75; índice de desarrollo de humo 0–450.
Clase C = Índice de propagación de llama 76–200; índice de desarrollo de humo 0–450.

Los materiales de acabado interior de paredes y techos probados conforme a NFPA 286 y que cumplan con los criterios de aceptación de la Sección 803.1.1.1, podrán utilizarse cuando se requiera una clasificación Clase A conforme a ASTM E84 o UL 723.

**803.15 Aplicación de materiales de acabado interior a elementos de construcción con… ¶
803.15.1 Fijación directa y construcción con rastreles. Cuando las paredes, techos o elementos estructurales sean requeridos por cualquier disposición de este código para ser de construcción con clasificación de resistencia al fuego o incombustible, el material de acabado interior deberá aplicarse directamente sobre dicha construcción o sobre rastreles que no excedan de 1 [3] / 4 pulgadas (44 mm), aplicados directamente contra dichas superficies.
803.15.1.1 Construcción con rastreles. Si el material de acabado interior se aplica sobre rastreles, los espacios intermedios entre dichos rastreles deberán cumplir con una de las siguientes condiciones:
- Estar llenos con material inorgánico o incombustible.
- Estar llenos con material que cumpla con los requisitos de un material Clase A conforme a la Sección 803.1.1 o 803.1.2.
- Estar bloqueados contra el fuego (fireblocked) a no más de 8 pies (2438 mm) en todas las direcciones conforme a la Sección 718.
Excepción: No se requiere cumplimiento con el punto 1, 2 o 3 cuando los materiales usados para crear el espacio oculto sean incombustibles.
803.15.2 Construcción con separación. Cuando las paredes y techos deban ser de construcción con clasificación de resistencia al fuego o incombustible y las paredes estén separadas o los techos sean suspendidos a distancias mayores a las especificadas en la Sección 803.15.1, deberán usarse materiales de acabado Clase A, conforme a la Sección 803.1.1 o 803.1.2.
Excepciones:
- Cuando los materiales de acabado interior estén protegidos en ambos lados por un sistema de rociadores automáticos conforme a la Sección 903.3.1.1 o 903.3.1.2.
- Cuando los materiales de acabado interior estén fijados a un respaldo incombustible o a rastreles instalados según lo especificado en la Sección 803.15.1.1.
- Cuando el espacio combustible esté relleno con material incombustible.
803.15.2.1 Soportes y elementos de ensamblaje. Los soportes y elementos de ensamblaje de dichos techos suspendidos que estén por debajo de los ensambles horizontales de piso o techo con clasificación de resistencia al fuego deberán ser de materiales incombustibles. La construcción de cada pared separada y del ensamble horizontal de piso o techo con clasificación de resistencia al fuego deberá ser de construcción con clasificación de resistencia al fuego según lo requerido en otras partes de este código.
Excepción: En construcciones Tipo III y V, se permitirá el uso de madera tratada con retardante de fuego para los soportes y elementos de ensamblaje de techos suspendidos.
803.15.3 Construcción con madera pesada. Los acabados de paredes y techos de todas las clases permitidas en este capítulo que se instalen directamente sobre el entablado o tablazón de madera pesada conforme a la Sección 602.4.4.2 o 2304.11 o sobre rastreles de madera aplicados directamente al entablado o tablazón de madera deberán estar bloqueados contra el fuego según lo especificado en la Sección 803.15.1.1.
803.15.4 Materiales. Un material de acabado interior para paredes o techos que no tenga más de [1] / 4 pulgada (6.4 mm) de espesor deberá aplicarse directamente sobre la pared, techo o elemento estructural sin el uso de rastreles y no deberá estar suspendido alejado del elemento de construcción al que se aplique dicho material de acabado.
Excepciones:
Materiales de acabado interior incombustibles.
Materiales que cumplan con los requisitos de materiales Clase A conforme a la Sección 803.1.1 o 803.1.2, cuando las pruebas calificativas se hayan realizado con el material separado por rastreles del respaldo incombustible, podrán usarse con rastreles.
Materiales que cumplan con los requisitos de materiales Clase A conforme a la Sección 803.1.1 o 803.1.2, cuando las pruebas calificativas se hayan realizado con el material suspendido alejado del respaldo incombustible, podrán usarse suspendidos alejados del elemento de construcción.
