12.44.010 - Crosswalks between intersections.¶
(a) Pursuant to the Vehicle Code, whenever the city council determines that a crosswalk between intersections would facilitate the orderly movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the city council shall by resolution direct the superintendent of streets to provide and maintain painted markings or other appropriately devised symbols or warning signs at all crosswalks which have been designated as such.
(b) Whenever the city council finds that the conditions because of which a crosswalk has been provided and maintained as provided in (a) no longer exist, it shall by resolution direct the superintendent of streets to remove such markings, symbols or signs from such crosswalk.

12.44.020 - Crosswalks at intersections.¶
(a) The city council authorizes the superintendent of streets to provide and maintain painted crosswalk markings or other appropriately devised symbols or warning signs at any intersection whenever the superintendent of streets determines that such markings, symbols or signs would facilitate the orderly movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
(b) Whenever the superintendent of streets finds that the conditions because of which painted crosswalk markings or other appropriately devised symbols or warning signs at any intersection have been provided and maintained as provided in (a) no longer exist, the superintendent of streets shall remove such markings, symbols or signs at such crosswalk.

12.44.030 - Prohibiting use of crosswalks by pedestrians.¶
(a) Pursuant to the Vehicle Code, whenever the city council determines that prohibiting the use of any crosswalk is necessary, the city council shall by resolution direct the superintendent of streets to erect and maintain signs adjacent to such crosswalk directing that pedestrians shall not cross in the crosswalk.
(b) Whenever the city council determines that the conditions because of which signs were erected prohibiting the use of a crosswalk as provided in (a) no longer exist, the city council shall by resolution direct the superintendent of streets to remove such signs.
