12.36.010 - Designation authority.¶
Whenever this title designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street the use of which is permitted by any commercial vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of twelve thousand pounds, the superintendent of streets is authorized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs as "Truck Traffic Routes: For the movement of commercial vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of twelve thousand pounds."

12.36.020 - Route use required—Exception.¶
When any such truck traffic route or routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any commercial vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of twelve thousand pounds shall drive on such route or routes and none other, except that nothing in this chapter shall prohibit any such operator coming from a "Truck Traffic Route" having ingress or egress by direct route to and from restricted streets, when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets, or for the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling, or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets for which a building permit has previously been obtained, or for the purpose of moving to or from a legally maintained truck storage or maintenance yard.

12.36.030 - Exemptions.¶
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:
(1) Public or private school buses or passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission; or to
(2) Any commercial vehicles owned by a public utility or a licensed contractor while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility, or to any vehicle subject to the provisions of Sections 1031-1036 of the Public Utilities Code; or to
(3) Any person acting under authority of a permit granted by the superintendent of streets; or to
(4) Any commercial vehicle going to or from a state, county or city vehicle licensing office.

12.36.040 - Streets designated.¶
Those streets and parts of streets mentioned in this section are declared to be truck traffic routes for the movement of commercial vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of twelve thousand pounds. No person shall drive, park, stop or stand any commercial vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of twelve thousand pounds, or exceeding ninety-six inches in total outside width (vehicle or load or a combination of both), on any street or portion thereof except the truck routes established in accordance with this chapter, except when making pickups, deliveries or other permitted acts under the conditions described in Section 12.36.020.

12.36.050 - Truck routes designated.¶
The following streets or portions of streets are declared to be truck traffic routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding the maximum gross weight of twelve thousand pounds:
Air Expressway;
Hesperia Road;
National Trails Highway;
Mariposa Road;
Bear Valley Road within the City limits;
Amargosa Road from Bear Valley Road to Palmdale Road;
Nisqualli Road from Hesperia Road to Amargosa Road;
Mojave Drive from SR-395 to the 1-15 Freeway.

12.36.060 - Truck route exceptions—Oversize trucks (CVC Section 35401.5).¶
The following streets or portions of streets are declared to be open for the movement of all vehicles or combinations of vehicles defined under Section 35401.5 of the California Vehicle Code:
(1) Air Base Road;
(2) National Trails Highway.
