3.58.010 - Creation of revolving fund.

Pursuant to Section 711 of the Charter of the city, and in accordance with Section 1502 of the Uniform Housing Code and Section 802 of the Uniform Code For the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, there is created a repair and demolition revolving fund in an initial principal amount to be fixed by resolution adopted by the city council. The principal amount of such fund may be increased or decreased upon the adoption of an appropriate resolution by the city council.

3.58.020 - Purpose of fund.

The purpose of such revolving fund is to defray the costs and expenses which may be incurred by the city in doing or causing to be done the necessary work of repair or demolition of dangerous or substandard buildings when the person(s) having any record title or legal interest has failed, neglected or refused to correct substance conditions by repair or demolition after the final notice and order issued under the Uniform Housing Code or the Uniform Code For the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings adopted by the city council.

3.58.030 - Payments from revolving fund.

Payments shall be made out of such revolving fund upon demand of the building official with approval of the city manager to defray the costs and expenses which may be incurred by the city in doing or causing to be done the necessary work of repair or demolition of dangerous or substandard buildings.

3.58.040 - Recovery of cost of repair or demolition.

The city council may order that the costs of repair or demolition made a personal obligation or assess such costs against the property involved as set forth in the Uniform Housing Code or the Uniform Code For the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings. All money recovered by the payment of the charge or assessment or from the sale of the property at foreclosure sale shall be paid to the finance director of the city who shall credit the same to the repair and demolition revolving fund.
