8.04 — DEFINITIONS

§ 8.04.010. Generally.¶
For the purpose of this title, unless it is plainly evident from the context that a different meaning is intended, certain terms used herein are defined as follows in this chapter. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1, 1973)
§ 8.04.020. Animal.¶
"Animal" means any mammal, including but not limited to, horse, cow, goat, sheep, dog and cat. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(d), 1973)
§ 8.04.030. At large.¶
"At large" means an animal off the premises of its owner and not under restraint by leash, or chain or not otherwise controlled by a competent person. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(c), 1973)
§ 8.04.040. City.¶
"City" means the incorporated area of the City of Union City. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(j) 1973)
§ 8.04.050. City Manager.¶
"City Manager" means the City Manager or his or her authorized representative. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1 (h) 1973)
§ 8.04.060. Dog.¶
"Dog" means any member of the canine family and includes female as well as male dog. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(a), 1973)
§ 8.04.070. Horse.¶
"Horse" includes mule, burro, pony, jack, hinny or jenny. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(e), 1973)
§ 8.04.080. Owner.¶
"Owner" means any person, firm or corporation owning, having an interest in, or having control or custody or possession of any animal. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(b), 1973)
§ 8.04.090. Person.¶
"Person" includes any person, partnership, corporation, trust and association of persons. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(g) 1973)
§ 8.04.100. Shelter.¶
"Shelter" means facility designated by City Manager for impoundment of animals.

§ 8.04.110. Wild animal.¶
"Wild animal" means any animal not ordinary and customarily domesticated, including, but not limited to skunk, raccoon, opossum, squirrel and fox, but under human control. (Ord. 97-73 § 1.1(f), 1973)
§ 8.04.120. Fowl.¶
"Fowl" means any chickens, roosters, cocks, geese, ducks, turkeys, pheasants, doves, pigeons, squabs or similar fowl.
