2.78.010 - Ex officio adult probation officer.

The position of "chief probation officer" as used in this chapter shall mean the person who is both the juvenile probation officer and the adult probation officer, pursuant to Section 215 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code and Section 1203.5 of the California Penal Code.

2.78.020 - Appointment and salary.

The position of chief probation officer shall be filled by appointment of the Shasta County board of supervisors, pursuant to Section 271 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, at a salary to be set by the board of supervisors.

2.78.030 - Qualifications.

The chief probation officer shall be a person possessing all the qualifications provided for in Section 1031 of the California Government Code, and such qualifications as the Shasta County board of supervisors may establish.

2.78.040 - Applicable provisions.

A. The provisions of the Shasta County personnel rules adopted by the Shasta County board of supervisors, as now exist and as may be amended, shall apply to the appointment and tenure of the chief probation officer and all employees in the Shasta County probation department.

B. Any modifications to the Shasta County personnel rules adopted or implemented by the county of Shasta now and in the future in accordance with the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (Government Code Section 3500 et seq.), as it now exists and may be amended, shall apply to the appointment and tenure of employees in the Shasta County probation department who are represented by employee organizations certified by the county of Shasta as exclusively recognized employee organizations.

C. The chief probation officer shall be the appointing authority for all employees in the Shasta County probation department.
