2.08.010 - Appointment—Duties.

A. Pursuant to Government Code section 25100.5, there is hereby established the office of the clerk of the board of supervisors. The clerk of the board of supervisors shall be appointed by the board of supervisors in the same manner as other county officers are appointed. With such an appointment, the county clerk is not ex officio clerk of the board of supervisors.

B. The clerk of the board of supervisors shall perform those duties prescribed by law for the county clerk as ex officio clerk of the board of supervisors or for the clerk of the board of supervisors. The clerk of the board of supervisors may perform all the duties vested in the county clerk except those vested in the county clerk as registrar of voters and may take acknowledgments and administer and certify oaths in the performance of such person's official duties.

C. Pursuant to Government Code section 24308, the office of clerk of the board of supervisors is consolidated with the office of county executive officer. The consolidated office shall be appointed and removed by the board of supervisors in accordance with Shasta County Code section 2.12.030.
