8.12.300: POSTING:

The health officer, after satisfying himself that a quarantinable contagious disease is present (or that it is strongly suggested that such a disease is present) must establish quarantine of the premises by posting a suitable sign at the entrance of the premises. (Prior code § 34500)

8.12.310: EFFECT OF QUARANTINE:

Until the removal of the sign is authorized by the health officer, no person shall leave the premises or remove any article therefrom without the permission of the health officer, nor shall any person not already confined within the quarantined area enter the premises. (Prior code § 34501)

8.12.320: EMPLOYED MEMBERS OF FAMILY:

Where some member of the family not ill is gainfully employed in some occupation, except teaching, food handling, or other work bringing them into contact with children or food, the health officer, if he deems it without possible danger to the public may permit such a person under conditions to continue his work. 8.12.330: DESIGNATION OF QUARANTINED AREA:

The quarantined area includes the house and the yard, or the area immediately surrounding the house. (Prior code § 34503)

8.12.340: DELIVERIES:

It is permissible for deliverymen of groceries, ice, mail, etc., to leave their products on the porch or some designated spot outside of the house. But they must not enter the house, nor come in contact with persons in the house. (Prior code § 34504)

8.12.350: INTERFERENCE WITH PLACARD PROHIBITED:

No person shall interfere with or obstruct any health officer or his authorized representative in the posting of any placard establishing quarantine in accordance with law, in or on any place or premises, nor shall any person conceal, mutilate or remove any such placard, except by permission of the health officer. 8.12.360: NOTICE OF PLACARD REMOVAL REQUIRED:

In the event any such placard is concealed, mutilated or torn down, it shall be the duty of the occupant of the premises whereupon such placard was posted to notify the health officer of such fact immediately. (Prior code § 34507)

8.12.370: BREAKING QUARANTINE UNLAWFUL:

It is unlawful for any person residing or being in any place which is quarantined by the health officer, to leave such place without the consent of the health officer. (Prior code § 34508)

8.12.380: ACCESS BY CERTAIN PERSONS:

The physician in attendance, any registered nurse in attendance, the clergyman, undertaker or any member of the health department in performance of their duties, may have access to the quarantined household therein, under such regulations as may be adopted from time to time by the health officer. 8.12.390: PERMIT; REVOCATION:

Any permits issued under authority of sections 8.12.370 and 8.12.380 of this article may be revoked upon failure to comply with the regulations governing the issuance of such permits. (Prior code § 34510)

8.12.400: EXCLUSION OF SCHOOLCHILDREN:

Schoolchildren affected with the following named diseases may be excluded by the health officer from attendance at school, which list is supplementary to the list of diseases prescribed by the state board of health: impetigo contagiosa, pediculosis, ringworm, scabies and Vincent's infection. (Prior code § 34511)

8.12.410: CONDITIONS FOR SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:

The health officer shall prescribe conditions under which children affected with these diseases may attend school. (Prior code § 34512)

8.12.420: TRANSPORTATION OF PERSONS:

No person shall without a written permit from the health officer transport, carry or remove in any manner from one building or place to another, or from any railway depot, or conveyance to any house or through any public street or highway, any person afflicted with any communicable disease. (Prior code § 34513)

8.12.430: RESTRICTION OF CONTACTS:

No person who has attended upon or otherwise come in contact with any case of communicable disease in such a manner or to such an extent as to render him or her liable to contract such disease or to communicate such disease to others shall go into any public place or assembly or mingle with other persons not affected with such disease. 8.12.440: QUARANTINE OF EXPOSED PERSON:

The health officer may, when it is necessary, cause any person so exposed to be quarantined in the manner herein provided until the danger of such person's having or communicating such communicable disease has passed. (Prior code § 34515)

8.12.450: ISOLATION OF INDIGENTS:

The health officer shall isolate all indigent cases of communicable diseases which, in his opinion, must be removed from their homes, such cases to be committed to the superintendent of charities for care in county institutions. (Prior code § 34516)

8.12.460: ISOLATION OF NONINDIGENTS:

In the cases of communicable diseases in persons other than indigents, the health officer shall attempt to secure isolation and treatment if possible in private institutions. (Prior code § 34517)

8.12.470: COUNTY HOSPITALIZATION OF NONINDIGENTS:

If private institutions are not found available and in his opinion hospital isolation and care continues, such nonindigent contagious persons shall be committed to the county hospital and the individual shall reimburse the county hospital. (Prior code § 34518)

8.12.480: VIOLATION; PENALTY:

Failure to comply with quarantine regulations is a misdemeanor and is punishable by both fine and imprisonment. Anyone found guilty of violating these regulations will be prosecuted. (Prior code § 34505)
