8.12.070: INNKEEPER OR HOUSEHOLDER REPORT:

It is the duty of every keeper of a hotel or boarding or lodging house, and of every household, to report in writing to the health officer, at once, the name of every person residing, lodging or boarding at his or her hotel, lodging or boarding house, or other house, whom he or she shall have reason to believe to be sick with any communicable disease, and every death occurring at his or her hotel, lodging or boarding house, or other house from any communicable disease, and in every case the nature of the disease, if known. 8.12.080: PHYSICIAN'S REPORT:

It is the duty of every physician or other person engaged in the treatment of the sick to report to the health officer each such patient affected with communicable disease, with his full name, age, sex, and address, together with the name of the disease, if known, within twenty four (24) hours of the time the case is first seen by him. (Prior code § 34201)

8.12.090: REPORT OF EMPLOYMENT AS FOOD HANDLER OR SCHOOL WORKER:

Such reports in the case of diphtheria, dysentery, paratyphoid fever, typhoid fever, epidemic streptococcus sore throat, scarlet fever, or other communicable disease carried by food or beverages, shall also state whether the patient or any member of the patient's family household is engaged in the handling or sale of milk or other foodstuffs for human consumption, or is engaged in teaching or working in a school or in caring for children, other than those of his or her own immediate family. 8.12.100: DUTY OF PERSON IN ATTENDANCE TO REPORT:

When no physician is in attendance, it shall be the duty of any midwife, visiting nurse, school nurse, public health nurse, private duty nurse, the head of any private household or the person in charge of any institution, hotel, hospital, sanitarium, boarding house, or camp to report immediately to the health officer the name and address of any person under his charge or in his institution affected with any disease which presumably may be communicable. 8.12.110: ISOLATION:

Until the health officer investigates such case and takes official action regarding it, strict isolation shall be maintained. (Prior code § 34204)

8.12.120: DISEASE OF UNUSUAL CHARACTER OR PREVALENCE:

It is the duty of any physician, visiting nurse, public health nurse, and every superintendent or other person in charge of any school, hospital, institution, dispensary, laboratory, labor camp, or other camp, who shall have knowledge of the occurrence of any disease which is unusual in character or prevalence, to report the same to the health officer, whose duty it shall be to investigate the same and endeavor to determine the cause or conditions responsible for it. 8.12.130: DISEASE OF UNCERTAIN DIAGNOSIS:

In cases of doubt or disputed diagnosis where uncertainty exists as to the nature of a suspected case of communicable disease, the health officer shall enforce and control measures provided for the suspected disease and shall refer the matter to the state director of public health. (Prior code § 34206)

8.12.140: CONTROL PENDING DIAGNOSIS:

Whenever a case of unrecognized illness shall be reported to the health officer, which upon investigation presents symptoms of a communicable disease, but in which, in the judgment of the health officer sufficient time has not elapsed to render a positive diagnosis possible, the health officer shall establish control measures applicable in actual cases of communicable disease until such time as positive diagnosis can be established and if the disease proves to be not communicable, the temporary control measures shall be terminated at once. 8.12.150: EMBALMING OF BODIES OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASE VICTIMS:

It is the duty of all undertakers or embalmers before proceeding to the actual embalming of any body in which the cause of death is suspected to be a communicable disease to await the official approval of the health officer before proceeding. (Prior code § 34208)

8.12.160: DUTY OF UNDERTAKER OR EMBALMER TO REPORT:

If the case was previously unreported to the health officer, it shall be the duty of the undertaker or embalmer to make a report at once. (Prior code § 34209)
