8.36.010: IRRIGATION WITH SEWAGE PROHIBITED:

No person, firm or corporation shall irrigate any strawberries, celery, potatoes, lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, onions, or any vegetables or berries eaten raw, in any manner with sewage effluent or water from any stream into which sewage has been discharged. (Prior code § 30500)

8.36.020: DEPOSIT OF REFUSE:

No person shall permit the contents of any cesspool, septic tank, water closet, sewer or sewage effluent, excrement, urine, slop water, butcher offal, market refuse, garbage, rubbish, cans or any dead animal or any putrid or offensive animal or vegetable matter, to remain or be deposited or discharged upon the surface of the ground on any premises, lot, or upon the surface of the ground on any premises, lot, or in any building, basement, or in any public street, or into any standing water, or excavation or public place. 8.36.030: PRIVIES AND CESSPOOLS; MAINTENANCE:

No person shall erect, use or maintain any privy vault or cesspool for the reception of human excrement or fecal matter upon any lot or premises in the city abutting upon any street therein having a public sewer opposite such lot or premises, or accessible thereto within a distance of one hundred fifty feet (150') from the nearest point of such lot or premises to such sewer, unless the same is connected to such sewer; and the use or maintenance of any such privy, vault or cesspool not so connected is declared to be a public nuisance. 8.36.040: PRIVIES AND CESSPOOLS; CLEANING:

No person shall fail or neglect to thoroughly clean any cesspool or privy upon any property owned or occupied by him whenever the same becomes offensive or a menace to health or likely to become so, or within forty eight (48) hours after notice to do so by the health officer of the city, or fail or neglect to thoroughly disinfect any privy, cesspool or premises whenever directed to do so by the health officer. 8.36.050: PRIVIES AND CESSPOOLS; TRANSPORTATION OF CONTENTS:

No person shall carry through the streets, between the hours of six o'clock (6:00) A.M. and nine o'clock (9:00) P.M., the contents of any cesspool or privy, or use any vehicle for such purpose, or for the carrying of any swill or garbage upon the street that is not sufficiently tight to prevent leakage thereof and having a tightfitting wooden or metal cover; and such vehicle shall be thoroughly cleaned immediately after use so that it shall be in a clean and sanitary condition. 8.36.060: RIGHT OF ENTRY:

The disposal superintendent or the health officer of the city is specifically required to enforce the provisions of this chapter, and shall have right to inspect any and all premises for the purpose of determining the sanitary condition thereof and whether the provisions of this chapter or other health and sanitary requirements are being observed, and any person denying or obstructing such inspection shall be subject to the penalty herein provided. 8.36.070: INTERFERENCE UNLAWFUL:

It is unlawful for any person in any manner to interfere with or obstruct the collection or disposal of refuse as herein provided for. (Prior code § 36701)

8.36.080: VIOLATION; PENALTY:

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter or wilfully noncomplying with any of the terms, requirements or provisions contained herein, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed three hundred dollars ($300.00), or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
