Petaluma Municipal Code Ch. 17.20 Fire Code

2025 California Fire Code, incorporating the 2024 Edition of the

International Fire Code.

There is hereby adopted by the city of Petaluma for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions

hazardous to life and property from Zre, hazardous materials or explosion that certain code and standards known

as the California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 9, 2025 California Fire Code (CFC), incorporating the 2024

Edition of the International Fire Code, including appendices, Chapter 4, A, B, BB, C, CC, D, E, F, G, H, I, N, and O,

published by the International Code Council and the California Building Standards Commission, being particularly

the 2025 Edition California Fire Code (CFC) and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are

hereinafter deleted, added or amended by this chapter. Not less than one copy of said code has been and is now

Zled in the o\ce of the clerk of the city of Petaluma and the same is adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out

at length herein and the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the city. (Ord. 2915 NCS §§1, 3,

A. Limits Related to Chapter 3 of the 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code as Amended and Adopted by the

City of Petaluma. Chapter 3 shall apply to all real property with newly constructed buildings within the city of

Petaluma located within the FHSZ as designated by the chief and the map published by Cal Fire and as amended

by the chief. The o\cial map is also located electronically on the following website: https://cityofpetaluma.org/

documents/wildland-urban-interface-map/. A map of such areas is maintained in the o\ce of the Petaluma Zre

prevention bureau.

B. The city of Petaluma hereby designates the Zre hazard severity zones as recommended by the California

Department of Forestry and Fire Protection pursuant to Government Code Section 51178, as that map be

amended from time to time. The map, approved by the city, is hereby incorporated by reference, and entitled

"Petaluma Fire Hazard Severity Zones." The o\cial map is located electronically on the following website:

Petaluma Zre prevention bureau.
