Monte Sereno Municipal Code Ch. 4.01 General Provisions

For the purpose of this Title, the following words, terms, and phrases when used in this Title shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this Section.

A. "Chief of Police" means the Chief of the City Police or his designated representative.

B. "City" means the City of Monte Sereno.

C. "City Clerk" means the City Clerk of the City.

D. "City Manager" means the City Manager of the City.

E. "City Police" means the law enforcement agency doing law enforcement for the City pursuant to a contract or other valid arrangements.

F. "Council" means the City Council of the City.

G. "Destination or destinations" means either a single delivery or several deliveries within the City of Monte Sereno.

H. "Highway" means a way or place of whatever nature, publicly maintained and open to the use of the public for the purposes of vehicular travel. "Highway" shall include "street".

I. "Local truck route" means any street as herein designated upon which trucks with an origin and/or destination within the City may operate only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

J. "Owner" means a person who has an ownership interest in a parcel of real property within a residential permit parking area.

K. "Owner of the land" means the owner of the land on which the vehicle, or parts thereof, is located as shown on the last equalized assessment roll.

L. "Owner of the vehicle" means the last registered owner and legal owner of record.

M. "Person" means individuals, firms, associations, partnerships, joint ventures and corporations and the agents, employees or representatives thereof.

N. "Public Property" shall not include "highway"

O. "Resident" means a person who lives in a residential permit parking area as his or permanent place of residence, either as a tenant or owner.

P. "Residential Parking Permit" means a permit issued pursuant to Section 4.06.020

Q. "Residential Permit Parking Area" means a residential area designated as provided Chapter 4 wherein vehicles displaying a valid permit issued pursuant to Chapter 4 shall be exempt from the parking time restrictions established in Section 4.06.090

R. "Restricted street" means all streets in the City except through and local truck routes as herein established.

S. "Through truck route" means any street as herein designated upon which the unrestricted use of trucks is permitted.

T. "Truck" means any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of two and one-half (2-½) tons.

U. "Vehicle" means automobiles, buses, motorcycles, boats, trailers, mobile homes, recreational vehicles, trucks, campers, motorized construction equipment, tractors and similar devices.

V. "Visitor Parking Permit" means a permit issued pursuant to Chapter 4.
