2.86.010 - Public defender—Office created.¶
There is created the office of the public defender in and for the county pursuant to California Government Code Section 27700. The office of the public defender shall be managed by the public defender, who shall be appointed by the board of supervisors, and serve at will.

2.86.020 - Public defender—Duties.¶
The public defender shall discharge all duties as set out in Government Code Section 27700—27711. The public defender shall devote all of their time to the duties of the office and shall not engage in the practice of law except in the capacity as public defender.

2.86.030 - Public defender—Salary and benefits.¶
The salary of the public defender shall be fixed by the board of supervisors from time to time by board of supervisors' resolution.
