15.57.010 - Purpose.

Numerous individuals are presently engaged in the unregulated operation of motorcycles, motor bikes, motorscooters and similar vehicles in substantial numbers on public and private property throughout Marin County. The noise and erosion produced by such activity in the aggregate severely damages property, destroys tranquility and serenity, irritates numerous people and is inimical to the public peace and safety.

15.57.020 - Violation.

It is unlawful for any person to operate any motorcycle, motor bike, motor scooter or similar vehicle on any real property in the unincorporated area of the county, other than public roads or property otherwise approved for recreational use of this type by the planning commission.

15.57.030 - Exemptions.

The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:

(1) Owners, tenants or lawful occupants of real property and members of their immediate family while operating such vehicles upon their property;

(2) Invitees of any of the persons designated above, provided they:

(a) Have in their possession written permission to operate such vehicles upon the property, or

(b) Are in the immediate company of a person entitled to authorize such use;

(3) Use of such vehicles in the course of a lawful occupation for profit or gain.

15.57.040 - Penalty.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine not to exceed fifty dollars or imprisonment for a period not to exceed one month, or by both said fine and imprisonment.
