Highland Municipal Code Ch. 15.36 California Green Building Standards Code

The 2025 California Green Building Standards Code (Part 11 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations), also referred to as the CAL-Green Code, as published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted. One complete copy of the same is on file and is open for inspection by the public in the office of the city clerk and designated as the green building standards code for the city of Highland. The building official is hereby designated as the authority charged with the administration and enforcement of this code.

The purpose of this code is to improve public health, safety and general welfare by enhancing the design and construction of buildings through the use of building concepts having a reduced negative impact or positive environmental impact and encouraging sustainable construction practices in the following categories:

A. Planning and design;

B. Energy efficiency;

C. Water efficiency and conservation;

D. Material conservation and resources efficiency;

E. Environmental quality.
