2.12.010 - Authority to fill vacancies by appointment.

Vacancies on the city council and all other elective offices provided for in Division 3, Part 1, California Government Code, shall be filled pursuant to California Government Code Section 36512.2.

2.12.020 - Appointment—Term—Qualification by ballot.

In the event the city council fills an office by appointment in the manner provided for in Section 2.12.010, the term of office for any person so appointed to fill a vacancy on the city council shall end when the vacancy is filled by election and the elected person takes office.

2.12.030 - Authority for council member salaries.

Salaries for city council members may be fixed in accordance with Section 36516 of the California Government Code. Salaries may not be increased beyond the amount provided in Section 36516. Council members may be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses pursuant to city policies and shall not be included for purposes of determining salary.

2.12.040 - Qualifications of office (prohibition of convicted felons from holding elective office).

Any person shall be disqualified from being an elective officer of the city of Farmersville if that person has been convicted of a felony or on felony probation, or through no contest or guilty pleas in the past ten years. Prior to running for elective office, a candidate is required to execute, under penalty of perjury, a statement indicating the candidate has not been convicted of a felony or on felony probation, or through no contest or guilty pleas in the past ten years. In the event that the candidate is allowed to run for office by the county of Tulare, that allowance shall not be deemed to be an approval that the candidate meets the qualifications for city council under this section that no person who has been convicted of a felony in this state, nor any other state of the United States, shall be allowed to run for, nor be elected to, nor be appointed to, nor be allowed to sit for, nor be qualified for, any city council position of the city of Farmersville.

2.12.050 - Statement required.

Prior to running for elective office in the city of Farmersville, a candidate is required to execute, under penalty of perjury, a statement indicating the candidate has not been convicted of a felony.
