Sec. 2-118.1. - Office established.¶
There is hereby established the position of director of community development. The director of community development for the city shall be appointed by the city manager and be responsible to city manager or his/her designee. Whenever in city documents, including the City Code, the terms "director of planning and housing" or "planning director" are used they shall mean "director of community development."

Sec. 2-118.2. - Duties.¶
The director of community development ("director") shall be in charge of the planning and zoning department, the building and safety division and code. The director shall supervise all employees in the community development department. The director shall administer, control, and supervise all assigned functions of the community development department subject to the approval of the city manager or his/her designee.
