Where venting using drainage or overflow piping is not provided or is considered insufficient, a vent shall be installed on each tank. The vent shall extend from the top of the tank and terminate not less than 6 inches (152 mm) above grade and shall be provided with a vent sized in accordance with this code, and based on the size of the influent pipe . The vent terminal shall be directed downward and covered with a [1] ∕ 16 of an inch ( 1.6 mm) mesh screen to prevent the entry of vermin and insects. Tank vent pipes shall not be connected to the sanitary drainage system vent.
