If any personal check offered in payment of any county fee or charge, pursuant to section 6157 of the Government Code, is returned without payment, for any reason, a charge established in accordance with section 54985 of the Government Code, shall be imposed on such returned check and added to the county fee or charge in question. The charge shall be as adopted by Resolution of the Board of Supervisors as part of the Butte County Master Fee Schedule.

The Butte County Treasurer-Tax Collector is authorized to charge, in addition to any other fees required by the County of Butte or the State of California, fees for services as adopted by Resolution of the Board of Supervisors as part of the Butte County Master Fee Schedule.

These fees are subject to periodic adjustment based on the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Cost Index (ECI) for State and Local Government.
