Section 18. 20. 010 Purpose of Provisions

The purpose of the specific plan implementation ( SP) zone is to implement various

policies within the General Plan which permit residential, industrial, commercial and open space development through specific plans, pursuant to Government Code Section 65450. The specific plans shall be consistent with the General Plan. Prior Code Appendix A 1001; Ord. No. 2012- 3, Amended 2/ 28/ 12)

Section 18. 20. 020 Application of Zone

The SP Zone may be applied to any area designated on the General Plan land use

map. Areas zoned as specific plans shall be designated with the symbol " SP" on the zoning map, followed by a dash and a numeric or alphabetical abbreviation to identify the applicable specific plan. For example, Specific Plan No. 8 shall be referenced as " SP- 8" and the Vista Business Park Specific Plan shall be referenced as " SP- VBP." Abbreviations for new or amended specific plans shall be determined by the City Planner and shall be referenced in the ordinance adopting or amending said plan. Prior Code Appendix A 1002; Ord. Section 18. 20. 030 Development Standards

Development standards for property zoned SP shall be established by a specific plan

which shall be prepared and adopted pursuant to Section 65450 of the Government Code. No property zoned SP can be developed without the adoption of a specific plan. Prior Code Appendix A 1003; Ord. No. 2012- 3, Amended 2/ 28/ 12)

Section 18. 20. 040 Permitted Uses

The permitted uses within the SP zone shall be fully defined through adoption of a

specific plan. General direction for permitted uses shall be established by the existing General Plan designations; the General Plan/ zoning " compatibility matrix" shall be used as a guide to determine these uses through listing of zones found to be normally consistent with the existing General Plan designations. Section 18. 20. 050 Implementation of Specific Plans by Other Zones

Specific plans are not limited to areas zoned SP. Specific plans may be implemented by
