Section 16.14.010 Adoption

The 2025 California Existing Building Code, California Code of Regulations, Title 24,

Part 10, inclusive of all current and future appendixes and amendments, as adopted by the California Building Standards Commission, is adopted by reference, and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this chapter. Section 16.14.020 Chapter 1, Division II, Section 105.3.2 Amended

Section 105.3.2 is amended to read as follows:

Section 105.3.2 Time limitation of Application. An application for a permit for

any proposed work shall be deemed to have been abandoned one year after the date of filing, unless a permit has been issued. Except that the building official is authorized to grant one or more extensions of time for additional periods not exceeding 90 days each. Ord. Section 16.14.030 Chapter 1, Division II, Section 108.4 Amended

Section 108.4 is amended to read as follows:

Section 108.4 Work commencing before permit issuance. Any person who

commences any work on a building, structure, electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system before obtaining the necessary permits shall be subject to a penalty equal to the permit fee to be paid in addition to the permit fee when obtaining the building permit. Section 16.14.040 Chapter 1, Division II, Section 108.6 Amended

Section 108.6 is amended to read as follows:

Section 108.6 Refunds. Refunds for a permit or plan review, when no work has

Section 16. 16. 010 Adoption

A. Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1994 Edition, is adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth, except for the additions and amendments of this chapter. B. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity between any provision contained in the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings and any amendment or addition thereto contained in this chapter, the amendment or addition in this chapter shall control. Section 16. 16. 020 Definitions

Whenever any of the following names or terms are used in the Uniform Code for the

Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows:

Building Department" means the Community Development Department, Building

Section 205 of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings is amended

to read as follows:

Section 205 In order to provide for reasonable interpretation of the provisions of this

code and to hear appeals provided for hereunder, there is hereby established a Board of Appeals. The Board of Appeals shall be the Board of Appeals established under Section 204 of the Uniform Building Code. Section 206 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, equip, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure which was unlawful at the time it was constructed and which would be unlawful under the building code if constructed after the effective date of such code, and shall constitute a continuing violation of such code. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of the building code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and such persons shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of the building code is committed, continued or permitted, and upon conviction of any such violations, such person shall be punished by a fine of not more than $ 1, 000 or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both such fine and imprisonment.
