Section 16.42.010 Adoption of Wildland-Urban Interface Code (WUI)

The City Council of the City of Vista adopts as the WUI Code for the City of Vista the

following: the 2025 California Wildland- Urban Interface Code ( CWUI), including appendices F & G, the 2024 International Wildland- Urban Interface Code ( IWUIC) as referenced in Chapter 7 of CWUI, together with the City's amendments in this ordinance. This WUI Code is adopted for the protection of the public health and safety. It includes definitions, provisions for the safeguarding of life and property from fire and explosion hazards arising from the storage, handling, and use of hazardous substances, materials, and devices, and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the occupancy of buildings, requirements for permits and inspection for installing or altering systems, regulations for the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, conversion, demolition, equipment use, and maintenance of buildings and structures, including the installation, alteration or repair of new and existing fire protection systems and their inspection and provides penalties for violation of this code. Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, and terms of the City of Vista WUI Code on file in the office of the City of Vista are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this ordinance. Section 16.42.020 Amendments to the 2025 California Wildland- Urban Interface Code California WUI)

The following sections and chapters of the 2025 CWUI are hereby amended:

Section 1.1.12 of the California WUI Code is revised to read:

The City Council declares that should any section, paragraph, sentence, or word of this

chapter be declared invalid for any reason it is the intent of this City Council that it would have passed all other portions of this chapter independently of any portion that may be declared invalid.

Section 102.14 is added to the California WUI Code to read:

ordinances, resolutions or motions or parts thereof, conflicting or inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter are repealed.

Section 103.1 is added to the California WUI code and reads as follows:

Vista Municipal Code

charge thereof shall be known as the code official. The function of the agency shall be the implementation, administration, and enforcement of the provisions of this code.
