3.08.290 - Establishment of truck routes.

(a) Those certain streets and parts of streets designated in section 3.08.310 of this article, and such other streets as may be so designated by an ordinance of the City, are hereby declared to be "Truck Traffic Routes," the use of which is permitted by any vehicle, except those equipped with lugged or cleated tracks or cleated wheels.

(b) The City shall cause such truck traffic routes to be designated by appropriate signs as "Connecting or Through Truck Traffic Routes," "Local Truck Traffic Routes," "Temporary Truck Traffic Routes," and "Future Truck Traffic Routes," as defined in subsection (c) of this section.

(c) (1)

"Connecting truck traffic route" means an information-only designation for State highways and County roads connected to through truck traffic routes in the City of Tracy. As such the City designation has no jurisdiction beyond City limits, excepting that the California Vehicle Code designates all interstate highways and State highways as through truck routes.

(2) "Through truck traffic route" means a route that allows any vehicle entering the City of Tracy from any point outside of the City and destined for any other point located outside the City of Tracy to proceed entirely through on without unloading or loading freight within the City of Tracy.

(3) "Local truck traffic route" means a route that may not be used by any truck to move from any point outside of the City of Tracy continuously to any other point located outside of the City of Tracy without unloading or loading within the City of Tracy. All local truck traffic trips must use the shortest local truck traffic route between connecting or through truck traffic routes and the originating or destination address within the City of Tracy.

(4) "Temporary truck traffic route" means a route that shall cease to be considered as a truck route when future truck traffic routes are constructed and open to traffic.

(5) "Future truck traffic route" means intended designations for streets and roads that are not yet constructed and open to traffic. Future truck traffic routes will be in effect after such streets and roads are constructed and open to traffic.
