Sec. 2-64. - Generally.

Except as otherwise provided by the laws of the state or of the United States of America or the provisions of this division, all unclaimed personal property in the possession of the sheriff shall be stored in a safe place by the sheriff for at least six months and thereafter shall be sold at public auction for cash to the highest bidder.
