The department of planning, building and code enforcement is hereby established and includes the planning department established by Charter Section 807.

2.04.3810 Department head. ¶

The director of planning, building and code enforcement shall be the head of the department of planning, building and code enforcement. (Ord. 25209.)

2.04.3820 Functions, powers and duties. ¶

In addition to those general functions, powers and duties given to the department head by this chapter and other provisions of this Code, the director shall:

A. Administer programs related to planning the growth and development of the city.
B. Administer the planning implementation and land use permit process, except to the extent otherwise delegated by the city council.
C. Administer programs related to the construction, erection, inspection, repair, remodeling, and demolition of privately owned buildings.
D. Administer programs to promote and achieve code compliance.

E. Administer the city's environmental assessment program.
F. Perform such other programs or functions related to planning, building or code enforcement that the city council or the city manager may, from time to time, authorize or request.
