INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The department of human resources is hereby established and is the department of personnel established by Charter Section 807. (Ords. 25209, 26783, 29021.)

2.04.2810 Department head.

The director of human resources shall be the head of the department of human resources. (Ords. 25209, 26783, 29021.)

2.04.2820 Functions, powers and duties.

In addition to those general functions, powers and duties given to the department head by this chapter and other provisions of this Code, the director shall:

  • A. Perform duties related to the administration of city personnel consistent with the Charter, other provisions of this Code, other ordinances, resolutions and other acts of the council.

  • B. Administer the recruitment, examination, classification and personnel transaction process for job classifications and positions.

  • C. Administer the health benefits program, safety, and workers' compensation programs for all city employees.

The information technology department is hereby established.

The chief information officer shall be the head of the information technology department. (Ords. 25209, 26783.)

2.04.3020 Functions, powers and duties.

In addition to those general functions, powers and duties given to the department head by this chapter and other provisions of this Code, the chief information officer shall:

  • A. Administer the city's central computer systems and functions.

  • B. Manage the city's communication services.

  • C. Provide advice and recommendation regarding current and proposed computer system maintenance and planning.

  • D. Assist in creation of computer system master plans, policies for the use of computer systems, documentation requirements and resource acquisition.

  • E. Perform such other programs or functions related to computer systems that the city council or the city manager may, from time to time, authorize or request.
