513C.8 Nonstructural Masonry Walls. Unreinforced masonry walls which carry no design vertical or lateral loads and are not required by the design to be part of the lateral force resisting system shall be adequately anchored to new or existing supporting elements. The anchors and elements shall be designed for the out-of-plane forces specified in San Francisco Building Code Chapter 16 . The height or length to thickness ratio between such supporting elements for such walls shall not exceed 13.
