510C.1 Minimum Design Lateral Forces. Buildings shall be analyzed to resist minimum lateral forces assumed to act nonconcurrently in the direction of each of the main axes of the structure in accordance with the following:

V = 0.10 W (5C-3)

EXCEPTION: The lateral forces need not exceed those prescribed by San Francisco Building Code Section 1613.

For buildings more than one story in height, the total force shall be distributed over the height of the building in accordance with the procedures of San Francisco Building Code Chapter 16.

For the purpose of this chapter, a dynamic analysis need not be performed for those buildings with irregularities, as defined in ASCE 7-16 Table 12.3-2 and ASCE 7-16 Table 12.3-1 which would otherwise require such analysis. All other design and analysis requirements of those tables shall apply.
