Sec. 2-4.301. - Established: Public Health Agency.

There is hereby established the Public Health Agency which shall consist of the following:

(a) The Director of Public Health, who shall be responsible for administering and managing the Public Health Agency including the divisions of: Public Health Clinics and Nursing Services; Environmental Health; Health Education/Community Health; Senior Services and Administration/Fiscal Support, consistent with the Federal, State and County law;

(b) The Health Officer, who shall be the chief medical authority and medical director of the Public Health Agency with the responsibilities mandated by Federal, State, and County law;

(c) The Director of Nursing, who shall serve as the Public Nursing Division Chief responsible for Public Health Nursing services and clinics, and as Director of Maternal Child Health with all the responsibilities and privileges that are connected with that position;

(d) The Director of Environmental Health, who shall serve as the administrative head of the Division of Environmental Health for the Public Health Agency; and

(e) All the assistants, deputies, clerks, and employees necessary for the proper functioning of the Public Health Agency.

Sec. 2-4.302. - Office created: Appointment: Term: Salary.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 451 of the Health and Safety Code of the State, the office of Health Officer is hereby created.

The Health Officer shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Board at a salary to be determined by the Board.
