Sec. 2-4.1201. - Department created: Powers and duties.¶
There is hereby established the Department of Child Support Services which shall be deemed a County office. The Department of Child Support Services shall be separate and independent from any other County department. The Department of Child Support Services shall perform those County level responsibilities outlined in Family Code Sections 17304 et seq. and Title IV-D of the Federal Social Security Act, (Subchapter 4 of Chapter 7 of Title 42 of the United States Code) and any amendments thereto.

Sec. 2-4.1202. - Position created: Powers and duties.¶
There is hereby established the position of Director of the Department to Child Support Services, which shall be deemed a County officer, and which Director shall be appointed by the Board. The Director shall have the power to perform the duties described in Family Code Section 17304 et seq. and Title IV-D of the Federal Social Security Act, (Subchapter 4 of Chapter 7 of Title 42 of the United States Code) and any amendments thereto.

Sec. 2-4.1203. - Transfer of staff, assets and programs.¶
All staff and assets dedicated to the performance of child support collection and enforcement services shall be transferred from the District Attorney's office to the Department of Child Support Services, consistent with Family Code Sections 17304 and 17305. The transfer of programs, staff and assets shall be effective upon approval of the Director of the California Department of Child Support Services.

Sec. 2-4.1204. - Rules, regulations and policies.¶
Except for provisions set forth in this Code, any rules, regulations or policies of the Department of Child Support Services may be implemented from time to time by resolution of the Board.
