2.48.010 - Public auction after three months.

Unclaimed property in possession of the police department of the city, which remains unclaimed for a continuous period of three (3) months shall be sold at public auction to the highest bidder after notice as provided in this chapter.

2.48.020 - Notice.

The chief of police shall give notice of the time and place of any public auction of unclaimed property by one publication, which shall be completed at least five (5) days before the date of such auction. Such notice shall contain an adequate description of all property to be sold.

2.48.030 - Transfer to public use.

In lieu of sale at public auction as provided in Section 2.48.010, any unclaimed property in possession of the police department, which remains unclaimed for a continuous period of three (3) months, may be transferred to the purchasing agent of the city. If the purchasing agent determines that any such property transferred to him is needed for a public use, such property may be retained by the city and need not be sold.

2.48.040 - Cash payment.

All unclaimed property sold at public auction shall be paid for in cash by the purchaser at the time of the sale.
