6.42.020 - Additional Information.¶
A.
Effective June 22, 2021, any person employed as a Water Program Aquatics Manager (Item No. 2940) who is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician I or Emergency Medical Technician-P shall be compensated at a rate 22 standard salary levels, or 5.6468 percent higher than that established for said position in Section 6.28.050 of this code provided such person's performance is "Competent" or better. The rate or rates established by this provision shall constitute a base rate.
B.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of this code, a person employed on an hourly recurrent basis as a Water Program Lifeguard (Item No. 2938H) who is reinstated pursuant to the Civil Service Rules following a release from hourly recurrent status shall be entitled to have restored any previously earned and unused full-pay sick leave; provided, however, that such leave shall otherwise be deemed available for use in accordance with those conditions and limitations that affect full-pay sick leave benefits earned and accrued by other eligible employees.
C.
Command Pay.
Eligibility. Beginning June 22, 2021, each safety lifeguard employee employed as a Water Program Aquatics Manager (Item No. 2940) shall be eligible to receive command pay for years of completed aggregate service in the County of Los Angeles, in accordance with the implementation schedule provided in paragraph 4;
The command pay provided for in this Subsection C shall be contingent on completion of the requisite aggregate safety lifeguard service with the County of Los Angeles as set forth in paragraph 4 below. In the case of mergers or consolidations, as provided in Section 6.02.040 of this title, agency hire date as a safety employee shall be recognized for the purpose of determining aggregate service;
The command pay provided in this Subsection C shall only be paid upon departmental certification that the employee's performance is "Competent" or better. Whenever an "Unsatisfactory Performance" or "Improvement Needed Performance" evaluation is filed with the Director of Personnel, command pay shall be cancelled and not restored until a "Competent" or better rating is filed;
Command pay based on years of aggregate service shall be implemented as follows:
a.
25 years — Beginning June 22, 2021, in addition to the compensation provided for in Section 6.28.050, an eligible employee under this subsection shall receive additional compensation that is 14 standard salary levels, or 3.5574 percent higher than he would otherwise be entitled to receive upon the completion of 24 years of aggregate County service;
b.
30 years — Beginning June 22, 2021, in addition to the compensation provided for in Section 6.28.050, an eligible employee under this subsection shall receive additional compensation that is 30 standard salary levels, or 7.7783 percent higher than he would otherwise be entitled to receive upon the completion of 29 years of aggregate County service;
D.
Fitness for Life Pay.
Beginning June 22, 2021, the pay rate for a person employed as a Water Program Aquatics Manager (Item No. 2940) shall be increased 12 standard salary levels, or 3.0416 percent upon successful completion of the Fitness for Life Program as approved by the Board of Supervisors for represented safety lifeguard employees, provided such person's performance is rated "Competent" or higher.
Continuation of the bonus provided in Subsection D1 shall be contingent upon successful completion of the annual Fitness for Life Program, as approved by the Board of Supervisors for represented safety lifeguard employees, providing such person's performance is rated "Competent" or higher.
The Fitness for Life Pay provisions shall remain in effect through December 31, 2027. The rate or rates established by this provision do not constitute a base rate.

6.42.030 - Small craft harbor commission.¶
Each member of the Los Angeles County small craft harbor commission (Item No. 9430) shall be entitled to receive as compensation the sum of $25.00 for each meeting of the commission attended by him, not to exceed 52 meetings in any one
calendar year.

6.42.040 - Small craft harbor design control board.¶
Each member of the small craft harbor design control board (Item No. 9431) shall be entitled to receive as compensation the sum of $25.00 for each meeting of said board attended by him, not to exceed 20 meetings in any one calendar year.
