6.108.020 - Additional information.

A.

All persons appointed to student or trainee positions in the department of public social services shall possess temporary status while occupying such positions.

B.

Certain Student Positions. Persons employed in the following item shall be required to participate in a training program the following number of hours: Item 9339, Student Case Worker, NC, 16 hours per week.

C.

Persons employed in positions under Item 9324 (Laborer, Relief, NC) shall be paid at a specific hourly rate applicable to any such person, determined by reference to the relief budget of such person as such budget has been fixed by the department of public social services. The amount which any such person may be entitled to receive in any one month shall be determined by the number of his hours of work, not exceeding a maximum of 140 hours per month, at the specific rate which is applicable to such person, and the total amount to be received for such work shall not exceed the relief budget for any such person as fixed by the department of public social services.

Persons assigned work under this item are to be assigned such work as a condition of relief in conformity with the provisions of Section 17200 of the Welfare and Institutions Code of the state of California, and no person shall be assigned work under this item who is not a charity relief beneficiary of the county of Los Angeles.

D.

Whenever a person employed on a position of Human Services Administrator III (Item No. 8023) is assigned as the department's Welfare Legislation Consultant in Washington, D.C., such person shall be compensated at a rate four schedules higher than that established for such position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

Effective with the pay period ending April 15, 2012 and upon notification to the board of supervisors by the chief executive officer that the human resources management system implementing this provision is fully operational, all provisions in

Section 6.108.020, subsection D.1 shall remain in effect except that such person meeting the aforementioned requirements shall be compensated at a rate 11.6125 percent higher than that established for his classification in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

E.

With the approval of the chief executive officer, whenever a person employed as an Assistant Director of Public Social Services (UC) (Item No. 8013) is designated by the director of public social services to regularly perform special assignments on behalf of the director, such employee shall be entitled to compensation during the period of such assignment at a rate two schedules higher than that established for his position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

Effective with the pay period ending April 15, 2012 and upon notification to the board of supervisors by the chief executive officer that the human resources management system implementing this provision is fully operational, all provisions in Section 6.108.020, subsection E.1 shall remain in effect except that such person meeting the aforementioned requirements shall be entitled to compensation during the period of such assignment at a rate 5.6468 percent higher than that established for his position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

6.108.030 - Commission for public social services.

Each member of the commission for public social services (Item No. 9421) shall be entitled to receive as compensation the sum of $25.00 per month, provided each member attends at least one meeting of the commission per month.
