10.08.010 - Obedience to police.¶
Officers of the police department are authorized to direct all traffic by means of visible or audible signal, and no person shall fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order, signal or direction of a traffic signal or police officer.

10.08.020 - Parking and traffic engineer—Chief of police.¶
Until such time as the City of Huron employs a parking and traffic engineer, the chief of police is authorized to act in that capacity and as used in this chapter, the titles are synonymous.

10.08.030 - Investigation of accidents by any police officer.¶
All members of the Huron police department shall have the power to investigate accidents resulting in personal injuries or death and to gather evidence for the purpose of prosecuting the person or persons guilty of any violation of the law contributing to the happening of such an accident.

10.08.040 - Appearance upon an arrest.¶
Whenever a person is stopped in the city for violations of the provisions of this chapter, unless such person demands the right to an immediate appearance before a magistrate, the officer shall, upon producing satisfactory means of identification, take all necessary information and notify him in writing to appear at a time and place specified. Such time and place to be in accordance with court procedures. Whenever such person refuses to give his written promise to appear as herein provided for, or demands an immediate appearance before a magistrate, he shall be taken forthwith before a judge of the justice court.

10.08.050 - Exemptions to certain sections.¶
The provisions of this title regulating the operation, parking and standing of vehicles, shall not apply to any vehicle of the police or fire department, any public ambulance, or any public utility vehicle or any private ambulance, which public utility vehicle or private ambulance has qualified as an authorized emergency vehicle, when any vehicle mentioned in this section is operated in the manner specified in the Vehicle Code in response to an emergency call.
The foregoing exemptions shall not, however, protect the driver of any such vehicle from the consequences of his wilful disregard of the safety of others.
The provisions of this title regulating the parking or standing of vehicles shall not apply to any vehicle of a City department or public utility while necessarily in use for construction or repair work, or any vehicle owned by the United States while in use for the collection, transportation or delivery of United States Mail or vehicle when displaying identification indicating the vehicle is in city use in a form prescribed by the chief of police and visible from outside the vehicle. Such identification shall be issued by the chief of police subject to approval by the city manager. Such identification shall be displayed on a vehicle only by the person to whom it is issued and only during the time such person is in the course of conducting authorized City business.

10.08.060 - Violation—Penalty.¶
Any violations of this title shall be deemed infraction.
A. Any person who wilfully violates his promise given in accordance with Section 10.08.040 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, regardless of the disposition of the charge upon which he was originally arrested. A promise to appear may be complied with by an appearance by counsel.
B. Penalties imposed for violations of this title shall be those as described in Division 18 of the California Vehicle Code.
