2.52.010 - Designation of city hall.

The building located at 13220 Central Avenue, Chino, California, shall be called the City Hall.

2.52.020 - Holidays.

A. Non-safety public offices and buildings of the City of Chino shall not be open on the following holidays:

  1. New Year's Day;

  2. Martin Luther King Day;

  3. Presidents' Day;

  4. Memorial Day;

  5. Independence Day;

  6. Labor Day;

  7. Veterans' Day;

  8. Thanksgiving Day;

  9. Day after Thanksgiving;

  10. Christmas Eve;

  11. Christmas Day;

  12. New Year's Eve.

B. If one of the above-designated holidays falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed as a holiday.

C. If one of the above-designated holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday will be observed as a holiday.

D. The city council reserves the right to close non-safety public offices and buildings of the City of Chino between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day in any given year. Such action may be taken by the city council before the applicable period without the need to amend this section.

E. Non-safety public offices and buildings of the City of Chino will be open on all other workdays not described in subsection (A), and all other workdays will not be deemed holidays for which employees of the City of Chino shall be compensated. Any other workday, whether such day is designated as a holiday in the Government Code or elsewhere, will not be a compensable day for the employees of the City of Chino, except that special holidays, if proclaimed by the President of the United States and the Governor of California, may be declared by the city council at a public meeting without the need to amend this section. If said special holiday is proclaimed by the mayor, compensation of employees shall be treated as other holidays.

2.52.030 - Smoking in city council chambers.

A. The city council chambers of the City of Chino, located at 13220 Central Avenue, Chino, shall be, and hereby is, designated as a "no smoking" area.

B. No person in the city council chambers shall ignite, smoke or hold any ignited cigarette, cigar or pipe, or similar device, containing tobacco or any other substance whose smoke is taken into the human mouth, throat or lungs.

C. The city manager, or his designee, shall conspicuously place signs within the city council chambers which clearly notify the public that smoking is prohibited and that smoking is punishable as an infraction.

D. A violation of this section shall constitute an infraction punishable by a fine of one hundred dollars, and a second violation within a year of the first violation is punishable by a fine of two hundred dollars, and each additional violation within one year of the first violation is punishable by a fine of five hundred dollars.
