10.08.010 Enforcement—Police department duties.¶
It shall be the duty of the police department to enforce the street traffic regulations of this City and all of the State vehicle laws applicable to street traffic in this City, to make arrests for traffic violations, to investigate traffic accidents and to cooperate with other officers of the City in the administration of the traffic laws and in developing ways and means to improve traffic conditions, and to carry out those duties specially imposed upon said division by this Title and other traffic ordinances of this City. 10.08.020 Traffic accident reports.¶
The police department shall maintain a suitable system of filing traffic accident reports. (Ord. 87-4 § 3, 1987; Ord. 155 NS § 2.1, 1967; prior code § 13-9.)
10.08.040 Traffic committee—Established—Composition-Appointment and removal of members.¶
There is established an advisory traffic committee, to serve without compensation, consisting of the Chief of Police, the City engineer and other such members as may be determined and appointed by the Mayor. (Ord. 87-4 § 5, 1987; Ord. 76-3 § 1, 1976; Ord. 155 NS § 2.3, 1967; prior code § 13-11.)
10.08.050 Traffic committee—Powers and duties.¶
It shall be the duty of the traffic committee to advise the City Council and City Manager on such matters affecting traffic as may be referred to it by the council or City Manager. (Ord. 87-4 § 6, 1987; Ord. 155 NS § 2.4, 1967; prior code § 13-12.)
10.08.060 City Council powers reserved.¶
Nothing contained in this Title shall deprive the City Council of its power at all times by resolution to rescind prospectively any action theretofore taken by the City Manager or Chief of Police under any authority or power delegated to them by the provisions of this Title, and to require the removal of any signs, signals or devices whatever installed by the City Manager or Chief of Police under such authority or power.
