§ 2.36.010. Adoption of plan.¶
Adoption of Insurance Plan pursuant to the authority granted to the legislative body of any city in the state, under the provisions of an act entitled "Public Employees' Insurance Enabling Act" (Chapter 250, Statutes of 1939, and amendments thereto), to adopt and carry into effect a system of group, life, accident and/or health insurance for the benefit of such of its officers and employees, except members of the council, as shall or may elect to accept the same and who have authorized the governing body to make deductions from their compensation for the payment of premiums on such insurance, and authorizing the city to pay part of the premiums out of public funds, this chapter is adopted.

§ 2.36.020. Authority.¶
The city council may install and maintain a system of group life, accident and/or health insurance as may be suitable for the officers and employees of the city.

§ 2.36.030. Appropriation of funds.¶
The city council shall appropriate such funds as are authorized by state law to carry out the provisions of the adopted insurance plan.

§ 2.36.040. Deductions.¶
The city clerk shall deduct from the wages or salary of each officer or employee, the amount of premium chargeable to the officer or employee under the adopted insurance plan upon the written authorization of such officer or employee. The city clerk shall pay or cause to be paid the amounts deducted from the salary or wages of the participating officers and employees and the amount appropriated by the city council to the insurer as premiums.
