§ 2.40.010. Statutory authority.

This chapter is enacted pursuant to the State Elections Code.

§ 2.40.020. Date held.

Pursuant to the Elections Code, the city council fixes the day of the statewide general election, the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year, as the date of the general municipal election within the city. The general municipal election thereafter shall be conducted on the date of the statewide general election unless otherwise provided by city ordinance or state law.
