1-8-1: ADOPTION OF OFFICIAL SEAL:

(A) City Seal: The city hereby adopts as its common seal, described as follows: The seal shall be circular in shape having an outer diameter of one and seven-eighths inches (17/8"), with the words, "City of Taft Incorporated Nov. 7, 1910" inscribed around its outer margin. Within the inner circle shall be inscribed in suitable type the words "Taft The Center of Midway Largest Oilfield in the World" and "In God We Trust". In the center of the seal shall be the representation of an oil derrick. The seal shall appear as set forth and depicted below:

(B) Use Of Seal: It shall be unlawful and a misdemeanor for any person to make or use the seal of the city of Taft, or reproduction thereof, for any purpose other than for the official business of the city of Taft, its council, officers or departments, except upon approval of the city council by ordinance or resolution.

(C) Imitation Of Seal: No person shall place any imitation of the city seal on any written or printed material that is designed, calculated, intended or likely to confuse, deceive or mislead the public or cause the reader of such written or printed material to believe it to be an official city publication, and no person shall circulate or distribute any such written or printed material in the city of Taft. Any person violating this provision shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

(D) Custodian Of Seal: The city clerk of the city of Taft shall be the official custodian of the official seal of the city. (Ord. 725-06, 8-15-2006)
