Taft Municipal Code Ch. 18 Community Development Agency

The City Council hereby finds and declares in accordance with Health and Safety Code section 33101 that there is a need for a community development agency to exist and to function in the City, pursuant to the Act. (Ord. 513, 10-22-1985)

The City Council hereby establishes the Taft Community Development Agency (the "Development Agency"), a public body, corporate and politic, with all rights, powers, duties, privileges and immunities as are set forth in the Act. (Ord. 513, 10-22-1985)

The City Council hereby finds and determines that the public interest would be served and the public safety would be promoted in an effective manner by having the City Council serve and function as the Development Agency and, pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 33200, the City Council hereby declares itself to be the Development Agency. The Development Agency shall conduct regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the hour of eight o'clock (8:00) P.M., or as soon thereafter as practicable, at City Council Chambers, City Hall, 209 East Kern Street, Taft, California 93268. (Ord. 513, 10-22-1985)

The City Council hereby authorizes and directs the Mayor of the City to serve and function as the chairman of the Development Agency, the City Manager of the City to serve and function as the executive director of the Development Agency and the City Clerk of the City to serve and function as the secretary of the Development Agency. (Ord. 513, 10-22-1985)

The Development Agency shall have full access to the services and facilities of the Planning Commission of the City, the City Engineer, and other departments and officers of the City, and the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the staff of the City to serve and function as the staff of the Development Agency. Any and all personnel rules and regulations adopted by the City and applicable to staff of the City shall be applicable to the staff of the Development Agency. (Ord. 513, 10-22-1985)

The staff of the Development Agency are hereby authorized and directed to cause an official seal of the Development Agency to be prepared, and the secretary of the Development Agency is hereby authorized and directed to cause a certified copy of this Chapter to be filed with the office of the Secretary of State for the State of California, as well as to cause any and all other filings as are required by law to evidence the information and existence of the Development Agency.
