Sonoma Municipal Code Ch. 10.60 Truck Routes

A. The city is authorized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs as “truck routes” for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons.

B. When any such truck route or routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons shall drive on such route or routes and none other, except that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons coming from a “truck route” having ingress and egress, by direct route, to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets.

C. The provisions of this section shall not apply to:

1. Passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the public utilities commission; or

2. Any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility. (Ord. 99-9 § 1, 1999).

The streets of the city which are used as a through truck traffic route are designated as Broadway and that portion of Napa Street lying west of Broadway, they being already designated as such by the State Highway Department, and they are so designated and appropriate signs shall be installed thereon. (Ord. 99-9 § 1, 1999).

Any motor truck trailer, motor vehicle or any mobile equipment, the weight of which, including the load carried by it, is in excess of five tons, is prohibited from traveling on, over or across the bridges designated and appropriately posted by the city engineer. (Ord. 99-9 § 1, 1999).

No motor vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of 6,000 pounds shall use Andrieux Street between Second and Fifth Streets West, except any vehicle exempted by statute, and except for local delivery purposes under permit by the director of public works. (Ord. 99-9 § 1, 1999).
