10.12.060 City engineer.¶
The city engineer shall be authorized to place or maintain traffic control devices, signs or signals. (Ord. 99-9 § 1, 1999).
10.12.070 Powers and duties of city engineer – Delegation.¶
It shall be the general duty of the city traffic engineer to determine the installation and proper timing and maintenance of traffic control devices and signals, to conduct engineering analyses of traffic accidents and to devise remedial measures, to conduct engineering and traffic investigations of traffic conditions and to cooperate with other city officials in the development of ways and means to improve traffic conditions, and to carry out the additional powers and duties imposed by ordinances of this city. Whenever, by the provisions of this title, a power is granted to the city traffic engineer or a duty imposed upon him, the power may be exercised or the duty performed by his deputy or by a person authorized in writing by him. 10.12.080 Traffic safety committee is established.¶
The traffic safety committee shall consist of seven voting members who are at least 18 years of age. All members shall be appointed and hold office in accordance with the applicable provisions of Chapter 2.40 SMC and rules and procedures established by city council resolution. Each council member will directly appoint one voting member who shall be a resident of the city. The remaining voting members will be referred to as at-large members and at least one shall be a resident of Sonoma Valley, as defined by the council commission and committee appointment policy. 10.12.090 Duties of traffic safety committee.¶
It shall be the duty of the traffic safety committee to evaluate traffic safety issues that are referred to the committee by city staff or by the city council and to make recommendations to the city council as to the resolution of such issues. (Ord. 13-2003 § 2, 2003; Ord. 99-9 § 1, 1999).
