10-9-1: CROSSWALKS ESTABLISHED:¶
(A) The Traffic Engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway as follows:
Crosswalks shall be established and maintained at intersections within the central district and at such intersections outside the district, and at other places within or outside the district where the Traffic Engineer, determines that there is particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway subject to the limitation contained in subsection (B) of this Section.
(B) Other than crosswalks at intersections no crosswalk shall be established in any block which is less than four hundred feet (400') in length. Elsewhere not more than one additional crosswalk shall be established in any one block and such crosswalk shall be located as nearly as practicable at midblock. (Ord. 406, 6-6-49)
(C) The City Traffic Engineer may place signs at or adjacent to an intersection in respect to any crosswalk directing that pedestrians shall not cross in the crosswalk so indicated. (Ord. 746, 5-3-76)
10-9-2: PEDESTRIANS TO USE CROSSWALKS:¶
No pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by a crosswalk in the central traffic district or in any business district.
10-9-3: CROSSING AT RIGHT ANGLES:¶
No pedestrians shall cross a roadway at any place other than by a route at right angles to the curb or by the shortest route to the opposite curb except in a marked crosswalk.
10-9-4: STANDING IN ROADWAY:¶
No person shall stand in any roadway other than in a safety zone or in a crosswalk if such action interferes with the lawful movement of traffic. This provision shall not apply to any public officer or employee, or employee of a public utility when necessarily upon a street in line of duty. (Ord. 406, 6-6-49)
