10-7-1: TRAFFIC ENGINEER TO ERECT STOP SIGNS:

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a through street, or any intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, or any railroad grade crossing at which vehicles are required to stop, the City Traffic Engineer shall erect and maintain stop signs as follows:

A stop sign shall be erected on each and every street intersecting such through street or portion thereof so designated and at those entrances to other intersections where a stop is required and at any railroad grade crossing so designated; provided, however, stop signs shall not be erected or maintained at any entrance to an intersection when such entrance is controlled by an official traffic control signal. Every such sign shall conform with, and shall be placed as provided in the Vehicle Code. (Ord. 746, 5-3-76)

10-7-2: STOP AT THROUGH STREET OR STOP SIGN REQUIRED:

(A) Those streets and parts of streets described in Section 10-7-4 hereof are hereby declared to be through streets for the purposes of this Section.

(B) The provisions of this Section shall also apply at one or more entrances to the intersections as such entrances and intersections are described in Section 10-7-5 hereof.

(C) The provisions of this Section shall apply to those highway railway grade crossings as described in Section 10-7-6.

(D) When stop signs are erected as herein provided at the entrance to any intersection or at any railway grade crossing, every driver of a vehicle and every motorman of a streetcar shall stop as required by the Vehicle Code.

(E) The provisions of this Section shall also apply at one or more entrances to the intersections as such entrances and intersections are described in Section 10-7-7 hereof requiring the installation of yield signs. (Ord. 632, 8-21-67)

10-7-3: EMERGING FROM ALLEY, DRIVEWAY OR BUILDING:

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway or driveway. (Ord. 746, 5-3-76)

10-7-4: THROUGH STREETS DESIGNATED:

In accordance with the provisions of Section 10-7-2 (A), and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, drivers of vehicles shall stop at the entrances to those intersections described as follows:

All intersections on McCall Avenue from High Street to the North City Limits;

All intersections on Second Street from Nebraska Avenue to High Street;

All intersections on Whitson Street from Thompson Avenue to Park Street;

All intersections on Stillman Street from McCall Avenue to Orange Avenue;

All intersections on Stillman Street from Orange Avenue to Dockery Avenue;

All intersections on Floral Avenue from West Front Street to McCall Avenue;

All intersections on Floral Avenue from McCall Avenue to Dockery Avenue;

All intersections on McCall Avenue from Whitson Street to Valley View Avenue;

All intersections on Rose Avenue from McCall to Easterly City Limits;

All intersections on Dockery Avenue from Floral Avenue to Rose Avenue;

All intersections on Dockery Avenue from Rose Avenue to Peach Street;

All intersections on Logan Street from Floral Avenue to Arrants Street;

All intersections on Young Street from Thompson Avenue to Second Street;

All intersections on Valley View Avenue from McCall Avenue to Thompson Avenue;

All intersections on Thompson Avenue from Valley View Avenue to Nebraska Avenue;

All intersections on Thompson Avenue from Nebraska Avenue to Pine Street.

All intersections on Park Street from Sheridan Street to Thompson Avenue.

All intersections on Wright Street from Arrants Street to Floral Avenue, from Floral Avenue to Huntsman Avenue, and from Huntsman Avenue to the northerly City limits.

All intersections on Mill Street from McCall Avenue to and including Orange Avenue.

All intersections on Thompson Avenue from Floral Avenue to Dinuba Avenue.

All intersections on Arrants Street from McCall Avenue to Orange Avenue.

All intersections on Mill Street from Second Street to Dockery Avenue.

All intersections on Sylvia from Second Street to Thompson Avenue.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this section, Park Street at the intersection with Skelton Street, shall not be a through street and shall be an intersection controlled by stop signs. 10-7-5: STOP INTERSECTIONS DESIGNATED:

In accordance with the provisions of subsection 10-7-2(B) of this chapter, and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, drivers of vehicles shall stop at the entrances to those intersections described in the list of stop intersections ("list") on file with the Director of Public Works and a copy which is on file with the City Clerk. Said list is incorporated herein by reference and may be amended by resolution as adopted from time to time by the City Council. Said list shall be categorized and alphabetized as the Director of Public Works determines the most efficient and usable for the City and the public. (Ord. 2004-3, 2-17-2004)

10-7-6: RAILROAD STOPS DESIGNATED:

In accordance with the provisions of subsection 10-7-2(C) of this chapter and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, drivers of vehicles shall stop before crossing the railroad tracks at those highway grade crossings described as follows:

10-7-7: YIELD INTERSECTIONS DESIGNATED:

In accordance with the provisions of subsection 10-7-2(E) of this chapter and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, drivers of vehicles shall yield the right-of-way at the entrances to those intersections described as follows:

Arrants Street, High Street and Logan Street, one yield sign, requiring traffic entering High Street from Logan Street traveling south to yield to traffic on High Street entering to right of traffic island.

Van Horn Street and Nebraska Avenue, one yield sign, requiring traffic on Van Horn (extended) traveling northeast to yield to traffic on Wilson Street traveling northwest. (Ord. 638, 1-15-1968)
