10-11-1: CERTAIN VEHICLES PROHIBITED IN CENTRAL TRAFFIC DISTRICT:

(A) No person shall operate any of the following vehicles in the central traffic district between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. of any day:

  1. Any freight vehicle more than eight and one-half feet (8½') in width, with load, or any freight vehicle so loaded that any part of its load extends more than twenty feet (20') to the front or rear of the vehicle.

  2. Any vehicle carrying building material that has not been loaded, or is not to be unloaded, at some point within the central traffic district.

    1. Any freight vehicle with a trailer.
    1. Any vehicle conveying refuse, rubbish, garbage or dirt.
    1. Any vehicle carrying crude or fuel oil.

(B) Provided that the Chief of Police may by written permit authorize the operation of any such vehicle for the purpose of making necessary emergency deliveries to or from points within the central district.

10-11-2: VEHICLES USED FOR ADVERTISING PURPOSES:

No person shall operate or drive any vehicle used for advertising purposes or any advertising vehicle equipped with a sound amplifying or loud speaking device upon any street or alley at any time within the central traffic district. (Ord. 406, 6-6-49)

10-11-3: TRUCK ROUTES:

(A) Whenever any provision of this Title designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four (4) tons, the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized to designate the street by appropriate signs as "Truck Traffic Routes" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four (4) tons. (Ord. 702, 7-2-73, Eff. 8-1-73)

(B) When any such truck routes are established and designated by appropriate signs the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four (4) tons shall drive on such routes and none other except when necessary to traverse another street to a destination for the purpose of loading or unloading, but then only by such deviation from the nearest truck route as is reasonably necessary and providing further that there shall be no truck loading of agricultural products on City streets. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission or any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation, or repair of any public utility. (C) Those streets and parts of streets described as follows are hereby declared to be truck traffic routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of four (4) tons:

First Street from Whitson Street to McCall Avenue;

McCall Avenue from Floral Avenue to the northerly City limits;

Second Street from Nebraska Avenue to Whitson Street;

McCall Avenue from Whitson Street to the southerly City limits;

Rose Avenue from McCall Avenue to the easterly City limits;

Floral Avenue from West Front Street to Dockery Avenue;

West Front Street from the northerly City limits to the southerly City limits;

Whitson Street from the northerly City limits to the southerly City limits. (Ord. 702, 7-2-73, Eff. 8-1-73)

Chandler Street from Arrants Street to Thompson Avenue.

Arrants Street from West Front Street to Chandler Street.

Thompson Avenue from Chandler Street to Floral Avenue. (Ord. 761, 11-1-76)
