10-6-1: ONE-WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS; SIGNS REQUIRED:¶
Whenever any ordinance or resolution of the City designates any one-way street or alley, the Traffic Engineer shall place and maintain signs giving notice thereof, and no such regulations shall be effective unless the signs are in place. Signs indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be placed at every intersection where movement of traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited.
10-6-2: OBEDIENCE TO ONE-WAY SIGNS:¶
When signs are erected on any one-way street or alley giving notice thereof, no person shall drive any vehicle in a direction contrary thereto. (Ord. 406, 6-6-49)
10-6-3: ONE-WAY STREETS DESIGNATED:¶
In accordance with Section 10-6-1, and when properly signposted, traffic shall move only in the direction indicated upon the following streets:
(A) Tucker Street between Second Street and Third Street, running from Second Street to Third Street;
(B) The alley between East Front Street and High Street, running from First Street to Second Street;
(C) The alley between Selma Street and Third Street, running from Tucker Street to Mill Street;
(D) The alley between East Front Street and High Street, running from First Street to North Street; (Ord. 628, 6-5-67)
(E) The alley between High Street and Grant Street, running from First Street to North Street; (Ord. 732, 4-21-75)
(F) The alley between McCall Avenue and Grant Street, running from Arrants to McCall Avenue. (Ord. 724, 12-16-74; amd. Ord. 2019-2, 7-1-2019)
10-6-4: PARKING PARALLEL ON ONE-WAY STREETS:¶
(A) Subject to other and more restrictive limitations, a vehicle may be stopped or parked within eighteen inches (18") of the left-hand curb facing in the direction of traffic movement upon any one-way street unless signs are in place prohibiting such stopping or standing.
(B) In the event a highway includes two (2) or more separate roadways and traffic is restricted to one direction upon any such roadway, no person shall stand or park a vehicle upon the left-hand side of such one-way roadway unless signs are in place permitting such standing or parking.
(C) The City Traffic Engineer is authorized to determine when standing or parking shall be prohibited upon the left hand side of any one-way street or when standing or parking may be permitted upon the left-hand side of any one-way roadway of a highway having two (2) or more separate roadways and shall erect signs giving notice thereof.
(D) The requirement of parallel parking imposed by this Section shall not apply in the event any commercial vehicle is actually engaged in the process of loading or unloading freight or goods, in which case such vehicle may be backed up to the curb, provided that such vehicle does not extend beyond the center line of the street and does not block traffic thereby.
