2.06.010 - Duties.

It is the duty of the city treasurer to receive and safely keep all money coming into his/her hands as treasurer. He/she shall comply with all laws governing the deposit and securing of public funds and the handling of trust funds in his/her possession. He/she shall pay out money only on warrants issued by legally designated persons. He/she shall prepare daily a summary of cash received by fund and source and supply the director of administrative services with a copy and with supporting evidence of receipt. At least once a month he/she shall submit to the director of administrative services a written report and accounting of all receipts, disbursements, and fund balances. He/she shall file a copy with the city council. He/she may appoint deputies for whose acts he/she and his/her bondsmen are responsible. These deputies hold office at the pleasure of the city treasurer and receive such compensation as is provided by the city council. His/her responsibility extends to the point of collection of all cash, and he/she shall outline the procedures pertaining to the physical aspects of the receipt, deposit, and safekeeping of cash through all departments of the city.

2.06.020 - Bank account.

The city treasurer shall select a state or national bank or banks from among those banks agreeing to pay the highest rate of interest, and the money received by the treasurer is deposited in an account in the name of the city.
