13.08.010 - Designated.¶
A. The names of the streets, avenues and alleys of the city are declared to be the same as designated or named on a certain map of the city prepared and compiled by Carl R. Briggs & Co., and E. Zoellin, C. E., and approved by the board of trustees of the city at their regular meeting, April 7, 1890, and now on file in the office of the city clerk, and on such maps or plats of additions to the city which have been accepted and approved by the city council since the adoption of the official map of the city, and filed for record with the city clerk, and with the recorder of the county; provided, however, that the names of certain streets within the city described in this section are changed and shall be known and designated as follows:
Avenue A and Dewy Court shall be Sacramento Street;
Avenue B shall be Taylor Street;
Bush Street shall be Shasta Street;
Dakin Street shall be Yuba Street;
Honn Street shall be Tehama Street;
Manzanita Street shall be Butte Street;
North Street, from Continental Street to West Street shall be Eureka Way;
Northeast Street shall be East Street;
North Market Street, from its intersection with the river bank westerly to the former state highway bridge shall be Riverside Drive;
Oak Street shall be North Street;
Old Shasta Road, from West Street to the western city limits shall be Eureka Way;
School Street, and that certain unnamed street extending from the south end of Pine Street to the state highway shall be Pine Street;
Tellurium Street, or Avenue shall be West Street;
1st Avenue shall be 9th Avenue;
2nd Avenue shall be 8th Avenue;
1st Street shall be 11th Street;
2nd Street shall be 10th Street;
3rd Street shall be 9th Street;
4th Street shall be 8th Street;
5th Street shall be 7th Street.
B. All of the alleys designated as provided in this section are declared to be of a uniform width of twenty feet, and all such streets, avenues and alleys are declared to be public streets, avenues and alleys; provided, that the city shall not be required to pay for the grading, graveling or improvement thereof, or keeping them in good condition or repair until and after such streets, avenues, and alleys are improved, graded, graveled, or macadamized to official grade; and, provided further, that the property along and fronting on the streets, avenues and alleys shall be assessable for the improvement, grading, graveling, or macadamizing of them in such manner as the city council may, in accordance with law, determine.
