Sec. 5-26.01. - Police dog defined.

For the purposes of this chapter, "police dog" shall mean any dog specially trained for assistance to law enforcement officers and which dog is under the control of a law enforcement officer or secured inside a designated police vehicle.

Sec. 5-26.02. - Violations: Penalties.

It shall be unlawful to tease, strike, touch, abuse, or otherwise interfere with any police dog, whether such dog is in the custody of a law enforcement officer or contained within a police vehicle.

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable as set forth in Chapter 2 of Title 1 of this Code.
