Chapter 12.44 — TRAILERS AND TRAILER COURTS

§ 12.44.010. Parking trailers outside trailer courts—Cooking in trailers—Permits for…

It is unlawful to park or place any trailer house used for sleeping or living purposes within the city for any period of time exceeding 24 hours, except in a trailer court, and no cooking shall be done in a trailer house outside a trailer court; provided nevertheless, that the foregoing shall not apply to trailers used solely for business, nonresidential purposes, for which the city planning director may, in his or her discretion, grant written permits for the parking thereof upon such terms as he or she deems just; such permit shall be personal and run to the particular permittee therein only, and shall not be assignable or transferable without the written consent of the planning director; such permit shall not in any event exceed a term of one year's duration, and in the event such permittee desires to extend such permit beyond the maximum one-year period, the same may be done only by city council action. It is understood that the parking of trailer houses in the city that are not used for sleeping or living or business purposes are not regulated by this chapter, but are regulated by this Code and the general ordinances of the city regulating vehicular parking when parked on the city streets or alleys. § 12.44.020. Permit fees.

The applicant for a permit provided in Section 12.44.010 shall pay an initial application fee of $* and a renewal fee of $____* for each annual permit granted thereafter.

§ 12.44.030. Effect of removing wheels from trailers or setting trailers on footings, etc.

The removal of the wheels or the setting of a trailer house on posts or footings shall not be considered as removing such trailer house from the regulations affecting trailer houses unless such trailer is made to conform with the Building Code and other ordinances of the city regulating dwelling and land uses.

§ 12.44.040. Penalty for violation of chapter.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter or failing to comply therewith shall, upon conviction in the justice court of the city, be subject to a fine of not to exceed $* and to imprisonment in the city jail for one day for each $* of the fine unpaid. Each day of violation shall constitute a separate offense.
